The presentation of the exhibition catalogue on 9 September
On 9 September at 6.30 p.m., in the Sala delle Otto Colonne of the Palazzo Reale, the catalogue of the anthological exhibition dedicated to Remo Salvadori, which can still be visited in the rooms of the Palazzo Reale, the Museo del Novecento and the church of San Gottardo in Corte, will be presented.
The presentation will be attended by curators Elena Tettamanti and Antonella Soldaini, Direttore Musei d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Milano Gianfranco Maraniello, art critic Italo Tomassoni, artwriter Angela Vettese and the artist. Following this, composer Sandro Mussida will perform an unpublished musical score on the piano inspired by the works in the exhibition.
The publication, divided into two volumes, recounts Salvadori's work through a multidisciplinary approach that draws on the concept, so dear to the artist, of "cantiere" (worksite) and thus of the interaction of different people in the exhibition, creative and editorial process.
The first volume includes a text by the curators, a conversation between them and the artist, and thirty-three contributions dedicated to lemmasclosely linked to Salvadori's artistic universesigned by intellectuals, critics and researchers in different disciplines who have had the opportunity to get to know Salvadori's work in depth, thus providing a choral and complete reading of his work. The voices include those of those who have accompanied Salvadori during his artistic career, such as Germano Celant and Pier Luigi Tazzi, who have been with him from the beginning with their critical reading of his work, contributing to the evolution of his human and professional path.
The second volume, with its peculiar accordion layout, presents an extensive repertoire of images of all the works that are part of the project, from Palazzo Reale to the Museo del Novecento, to the Church of San Gottardo in Corte, up to the unpublished score by Sandro Mussida.
The presentation is open to the public while seats last.
Wednesday 16 July
From 16 July to 14 September 2025, Milan recounts the work of Remo Salvadori (Cerreto Guidi, 1947) with a multi-site exhibition involving three symbolic locations in the city - Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento and the church of San Gottardo in Corte - offering the public an immersive experience in the artist's practice and thought.
The exhibition, promoted by the City of Milan - Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale and Eight Art Project in collaboration with Museo del Novecento and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, is curated by Elena Tettamanti and Antonella Soldaini.
Access to the exhibition, set up on the first floor of the Palazzo Reale, is free, as is the viewing of the work located at the entrance to the Museo del Novecento. Access to the works in the Church of San Gottardo in Corte is on payment with admission ticket of the Museo del Duomo.
After an introduction to Remo Salvadori's poetics through the display of six historical works rethought for the occasion, distributed between the Sala delle Cariatidi and the Sala del Piccolo Lucernario of the Palazzo Reale (held between 2 and 14 July) and the Museo del Novecento, the exhibition continues with the opening of the anthological exhibition in the rooms on the first floor of the Palazzo Reale and in the church of San Gottardo in Corte.

Palazzo Reale
The exhibition brings together a corpus of fifty-nine emblematic works to compose the largest solo show dedicated to the artist. The exhibition path distances itself from the traditional concept of a monographic and chronological survey because it has been conceived by the artist and the curators in such a way that each element in play is contaminated by the work, the visitor's presence and the space that welcomes them. The exhibition thus acquires its most authentic meaning "in the moment" of its making: "I don’t want to arrive at anything. I’m not seeking a work that represents me but one that I ‘stay’ with continually. I am ‘in the moment’ and that’s how I keep ‘the fire’ burning" (Salvadori).
The layout, designed to bring attention to the present, relates works with a strong historical importance and new site-specific installations in a visual rhythm that generates profound and unexpected associations. The exhibition constantly emphazises the dialogue between the work and the architecture that houses it, alternating moments of density with episodes in which the energy of an individual work is amplified.

Museo del Novecento e chiesa di San Gottardo in Corte
Two works by Remo Salvadori at the Museo del Novecento complete the exhibition. Alveare, 1996 (2024), is a dense sequence of thin copper rods arranged side by side at different distances, first presented in 1996. At the Museum it is placed along the large wall at the side of the entrance ramp, where it will remain permanently, becoming part of the Museum's collection. Salvadori also intervenes in the Museum's spaces with Nel momento, 1974 (2025), which stands on the skylight in the room that precedes the archive space.
A further chapter of the exhibition opens in the church of San Gottardo in Corte: from 18 July to 31 August 2025, the work 10 frecce nei colori di minerali, 1969-1970, enters into dialogue with the sacred architecture, offering a contemplative experience outside the museum space. The work, exhibited for the first time in 1970 and then again during the 8e Biennale de Paris in 1973, is placed in the centre of the space in front of the Giottesque school fresco and bordered by four columns.
10 frecce nei colori di minerali is exhibited in connection with Stella, 2025. Created especially for this occasion, this work finds an ideal rapport with the one overlying it and alludes in its form to a cosmological dimension.
