A process of transformation
"Art is a process of transformation: of something that is at the bottom and has been brought up, or at least raised. This is the essential sign, for me. If I take a substance that is at foot level, let's say, and bring it above my head, I have raised something, and the result of what has been raised I believe lies here, in the moment."
(Conversation between Lisa Licitra Ponti and Remo Salvadori, in "Juliet", no. 34 [December 1987-January 1988], 38-39)
